Shell ginger contains a large amount of polyphenols and has a high antioxidant effect. It is gaining interest due to its detoxification and anti-aging are attracting attention effec. From ancient times it's been known that shell ginger leaves have insect-proof, antibacterial, and antifungal effects. In Okinawa, the people wrap mochi in the leaves to make a local treat called "moochi."
