SUIGEN TEA-Seeds and Fruits
Seeds and Fruits
Ingredients Shell ginger fruits (Yanbaru)
The fruits of shell ginger contain a large amount of polyphenol and other minerals. As a result, it is popular for its antioxidative, detoxification and anti-ageing properties. It was also used as a herbal medicine in Okinawa since ancient times. The steamed seeds are said to restore weakened digestion.
Take about 15 seeds and loosen them with the fingers. Boil them in one litre of water. Once boiling, reduce the heat and allow them to simmer for about ten minutes, before turning the heat off and steaming with the lid on for another ten minutes. You can repeat this process for a second round of tea. You can boil the remains in half the amount of water, and add it to the bath for a shell ginger bath. You can also add the boiled fruits to an appropriate amount of hot milk (with honey) for a delicious drink.
